Trieste, July 18, 2024 – Today, at the Urban Center headquarters in Trieste, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia presented a new call in the Life Sciences sector, with a total allocation of €5 million in non-repayable funds, for the modernization of testing and experimental infrastructures within the regional territory. This will be achieved through the creation of new infrastructures or the implementation of existing ones.
The initiative saw the participation of: Alessia Rosolen, Regional Councilor for Work, Training, Education, Research, University, and Family, Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia; Luciana Grimani, Head of the Research, Development, and Innovation Organizational Position, Central Directorate for Work, Training, Education, and Family, Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia; Ketty Segatti, Central Director with particular functions of the Central Directorate for Work, Training, Education, and Family, Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia; and Franco Scolari, General Director of the Alto Adriatico Technology Hub.
A Call Dedicated to the Life Sciences Sector
The call “Support for the Modernization of Testing and Experimental Infrastructures in the Regional Life Sciences Sector” aims to stimulate the modernization of testing and experimental infrastructures within the regional territory through the creation of new infrastructures or the enhancement of existing ones, with the goal of developing new or improved products, processes, and services, and to test and update technologies to achieve advancements in industrial research and experimental development.
The projects submitted must align with the development trajectories of the S4, namely the Life Sciences sector: Systems and solutions for health maintenance and care support; Innovative biomedical solutions and systems: integrated development of medical devices; Active & assisted living solutions and systems for supporting frailty; Solutions and systems for innovative therapies: integrated development of drugs and biopharmaceuticals (biotech) for personalized and sustainable medicine.
Target
The call is open to micro, small, medium, and large enterprises, also in associated form through the establishment of a Temporary Association of Companies (ATI), independent of each other, with a registered office or operational unit in the regional territory or committed to establishing an operational office in the regional territory before the start of the project.

Deadlines
The submission of projects is open from 10:00 AM on July 15 until 12:00 PM on
September 20, 2024.
Resources
The total allocation of the call is significant and amounts to €5,000,000.00. The eligible cost of the submitted project must not be less than €500,000.00 and must have a duration between 6 and 24 months. The maximum aid that can be granted for each project is €2,500,000.00.
Eligible Expenses
The call allows the indication of expenses related to the realization of the submitted project and incurred from the day following the submission of the application and throughout the duration of the project. Eligible expenses include: material and immaterial investments that encompass all expenses incurred to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, IT instruments, including software and licenses; design, installation, and testing; certification of expenditure activities, up to a maximum amount of €3,000.00; VAT only if it represents a final cost for the beneficiary. The contributions cannot be combined with other aid measures, even under the “de minimis” regime.
